Ah shit man, I was totally right about elf slaves. That... sucks.

My unquenchable thirst to become a librarian crashed and burned tonight. Though Harriet totally makes more sense now.

That silent treatment ending in shattered mirrors was next level. I'm glad I didn't give up on this show awhile back -- Quentin's pretty unlikable, and the shitty wardrobe for Alice and sex-violence origin story didn't help.

I'm glad Fen appears to be a permanent character now. She's grown on me tremendously for this season.

Penny's contract looks like it's kicking in. Maybe we'll get more cool library flashbacks -- the Neitherlands branch must have one hell of a backstory!

Quentin's pretty unlikable

Yeah, but that is totally by design and I kind of think he's getting more likable this season.

You guys have totally noticed that you can still see faeries in shots where they are invisible, right? There is consistently a little green smudge or floating flame that ALMOST looks like some sort of mistake or blur or hiccup of digital rendering.

I've been noticing it throughout this season, and always in scenes involving the fae. I finally decided I wasn't crazy when I saw it again in the "Fen" story. This is a very lo-rez image that doesn't fully capture how much more obvious it is while watching the show.

(In this episode, it's around the 24:50 mark. I haven't been tracking them because I'd only ever seen it happen in Fillory scenes before and I had convinced myself that maybe I wasn't *really* seeing anything strange. But, when it showed up in the Physical Kid's cabin...)

Also, I love that Irene is snorting literal fairy dust.

Wow, that's pretty cool.. I'm going to keep watch for that next episode.

wow yeah shit that fairy slave to be turned into dust thing is some crazy shit. so when Skye says "i'm the last one left", clearly the other fairy slaves we've seen at Irene's house have all been turned to dust. and that's probably where the library is getting their magic from through some sort of deal with Irene. aaand that's probably why the fairy queen is a total asshole to humans in Fillory and trying to raise an army to attack earth.

this season is pretty awesomely bonkers. and things like the entire story of Harriet in silence is why i love this show.

Ah shit man, I was totally right about elf slaves. That... sucks.

It's way worse than "mere" slavery - they're harvesting elf parts to regain some magic. And it's not just the uber-wealthy family, the Library is using fairy dust, too.

and that's probably where the library is getting their magic from through some sort of deal with Irene. aaand that's probably why the fairy queen is a total asshole to humans in Fillory and trying to raise an army to attack earth.

Yup and yup, my thoughts exactly. And now I see what could happen in a 4th season - push way past the books and into new territory.

Meanwhile, the little ways I love this show: Penny trading fake facts from Game of Thrones
Penny: What the hell do you bribe dead people with? Uh... is there money here?
...
[Someone]: And what about the White Walkers?
Penny: Oh, the White Walkers? Yeah, I mean, those guys are bad news. You know, but then the British-sounding dude came and, uh, you know, kicked their asses, so...
[Someone]: W... wait, who was that?
Penny: You know! You know, dope outfit. Speaks in rhymes. Has eight dragons.
[Someone]: Where did he get so many dragons?
Penny: I mean... that's the question.

can you imagine someone dying halfway through the first season of The Good Place and they would never believe you as you're telling them how it ends?

I loved the fake Game of Thrones facts! Also, after watching the new MST3K, I wonder if Poppy is going to isolate Quentin and make him watch terrible movies.

Also: quiet, squirrels

Also, what Skye said: "there are no other fairies." I don't think she means, in the house. I think she doesn't know there are fairies in Fillory.

Yeah, the fake Game of Thrones bit was amazing. I wonder if the Library is also harvesting fairies from other universes; presumably there were only so many of Irene's servants. I'd also be curious to know what they traded Irene in exchange; I assume the cure for her fairy dust sores, but she could have negotiated for more.

Those shattering mirrors were gorgeous and terrifying. Reminded me a bit of the creepy magical traveling in Wheel of Time.

Another episode that took it to another level. The silent section was just great and told us so much about Harriet and Zelda.

Fairies - I hope that at some point that Irene is going to end up facing the wrath of the queen.
