I am not particularly a fan of this kind of movie, but I am a fan of Diane Lane.

I enjoyed her interactions with the locals: the old man, the real estate guy, the Fellini actress, the workers and the young one's girlfriend.

The relationship with the hot Italian stud was interesting, but bland. Of course he was going to end up with another lover, but yeah, Diane Lane shows up on his doorstep wearing that hot white dress and he gently lets her down... Uh huh. Only in Hollywood. :P

The Sandra Oh role was fine, but she's not my thing as an actress.

This movie and Sir Ken and Emma's Much Ado About Nothing has solidified my interest in living in Tuscany. It'll never happen, but one can indulge in the thought.

It's a fluffy bit of fantasy that's nice to watch while knitting. But I have no clue why it was listed as a lesbian movie in that article. Technically there are lesbian characters in it, but barely. This movie is largely centered around various hetero relationships.

I enjoy this movie right up until the part at the end where a mysterious stranger shows up to meet her. It's a nice story about finding love and happiness in ways she didn't anticipate and then bam, suddenly she finds a romantic interest. Give me a break...

I enjoyed reading the book (long before it spawned an empire) as a dreamier counterpart to other travel writing, and found the movie a lovely bit of fluff. Plus, I like Diane Lane and Sandra Oh a lot and watching them be charming for the duration of the movie was really pleasant.

I haven't had the problem where your toilet is filling up with boiling hot water, but I have had other misadventures with Italian plumbing, especially twenty years ago.

I love this movie. Much in the same way I love eating limone & lampone gelato on a hot summer's day.
