Damn this show just has me riveted. I don't have a lot of critical analysis to bring to the table, though I really do think this is an important #metoo document, using the late 1970s to hold a mirror up to our times.

I'm terrified of what CC might perpetrate on both Ashley and Lori, and maybe even Abby as well. He's a dangerous cat.

Maggie Gyllenhaal continues to be absolutely brilliant.

And Franco. He's so Franco! The first episode didn't really showcase his take on both of the twins (I was glad Vincent had the cut above his eye, otherwise I couldn't tell them apart), but he's developed the characters well. I don't expect Frankie to live long.

For that matter, I'm intrigued to see how Vinnie navigates the waters he finds himself in.

Nice to see Larry's career pivot (Gbenga Akinnagbe is soooooo talented and so good in this).

Thank god for Larry's story. Remember in the pilot where someone said that Larry was the meanest of the pimps? I guess Simon/Pelecanos dropped that characterization for him.

Candy's set seems so nice compared to Bernie's set. And I love Darlene.

I know the parlors and organized crime are an important part of telling the story of sex work during this time in NYC, but I would be happy if the show were just about women shaping the porn industry.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens with Larry. Darlene seems to be enjoying this. What if she becomes his manager? (Okay, I know that's crazy talk but that would be awesome)

I called Larry a dick a couple of times in Season 1! I'm curious to map his arc back to there now.

I think it's so brave of Ashley/Dorothy to come back to the literal scene of the crime to help other women. I am also a little nervous about what CC is going to do. And if Lori wants to get out from under his control, she is going to need to move to LA.
