Who runs the world? Squirrels. I like when the show goes full on absurd in forcing the character interactions they need, and squirrel flu was definitely that.

Interested to see what happens with community theater. The show has consistently shown that Rebecca cannot sing - is better adjusted Rebecca going to get into tech/production? Or be happy as a bit player?

Another good episode for musical numbers - I liked the play on kung fu fighting and Dr. Akopian singing about how when it comes to medications, Rebecca's a basic bitch. I liked the announcement near the end of the anti-depressant song that the lawyers wouldn't let them use real medication names - I was wondering if the ones they used were made up - pharmaceutical names are so weird, I couldn't tell.

Wasn't this the season finale?

Nope. This final season is 18 episodes, including a concert episode after the finale.

aha! I'm glad this wasn't the season finale cause I thought it was a tad flat in tone - and would have been a weird cliffhanger (ish) ending / nonending

They used legit generic names, they didn’t use brand names. I recognized Prozac and lexapro.

Oh, thanks for clarifying, politikitty.

That was also pointed out in this not very impressed Vulture recap. I still liked that song, but the complaint that it was pretty close to a pharmaceutical commercial seems fair. Although, with several episodes left to go, I wouldn't assume that will be the show's last reflection an antidepressants.

I thought the antidepressant song was brilliant, because it took on the stigma that can often accompany them head on.

The replies to Rachel's tweet about it are delightful to read. Representation matters!

oh man, "rebecca as stage manager" would be a really neat way to wrap things up i think, that's a direction that would really fit her character i think.

I really relate to Rebecca and the wanting to be a singing star thing. I always wanted to be a Theater Person, except I apparently suck and couldn't get into any shows (except one I auditioned for that took everybody, and anything I paid to get into), at least until I took up storytelling, which has a much lower bar, thank god. I feel sad every time we see her "real" voice that can't sing so well. So while yeah, I think her real life dream is to be a singing star like her little brother wants to, will the theater world let her in if she can't sing for real? I don't think she'd love being a backstage techie at all whatsoever. Or even being a bit player if someone let her into an ensemble. She's a showoff at heart.

What do you do when you can't have your dream? You end up being a lawyer or running a pretzel shop and trying to come up with a realistic compromise life/dream that kinda kills your soul.

I freaking loved the "real life fighting" song. About died laughing.

At this point I want Rebecca to have three boyfriends, but yeah right on that.

Kinda brilliant how they've gradually turned the premise of the Season 4 opening credits on its head: "Rebecca's too hard to summarize, let's go back to other Rebecca"--whose one-liners have increasingly shown her to be every bit as much of a complicated mess of a human.
