This movie dwells solidly in the land of tropes, but in my humble opinion, it is filled with strong performances and makes some smart choices that, while not elevating it to a super complex film, makes it feel real and moving. It also makes a great movie to watch at the gym (part of my ongoing mission to find feminist action films to watch while using the elliptical - suggestions for others in this vein welcome.)
