The Amazing Race: Hot Sexy Knights
November 22, 2014 7:20 AM - Season 25, Episode 8 - Subscribe

Six teams travel to Malta on their race around the world.

This episode features knights, greased poles, mutual polishing, broken glass, gorgeous vistas, mocking, rapelling, cliques, painting shields, swimming, taxi woes, nicknames, an overnight wait for a challenge to open, fear of bugs, hidden clue stands, and a spectacular looking maltese falcon.

Bethany kicks butt, Jim sounds supportive (without superiority) of his wife, Amy's hurt her leg, and Brooke mocks her for it. Most of the teams settle on a common enemy whom they coincidentally don't like. One team is eliminated.

The dentists continually do well (with that one exception), and still have the Safe pass. So naturally most of them decide to gang up and u-turn ... the cyclists. facepalm

The trick to the greased pole was realizing that it was impossible.

Not sure why someone didn't just go up the pole several times to wipe off the grease first.

Husband: "Bethany and Adam taking the Express Pass pretty much robbed us of what would have been the most interesting part of the whole season."

With their balance and athleticism, Bethany and Adam were probably the only ones who could have done it.

No kidding. They need to add a rule where not using your express gets you bonus prizes. Give them some incentive to actually try the challenge out.

There's been animals at about half the pit stops. I wonder if that will come into play at the end.

It looked to me like the pole greasers were intermittently greasing the pole, so my guess is that once you'd degreased the pole with your flailing, they'd spring into action.

The challenge was that one team member had to get a (closer) yellow flag, and the other team member had to get a (farther) red flag. But as far as I could tell they didn't have to declare in advance which member was going for which flag; before either flag had been gotten, either team member could go for either flag.

Which led to teams going for the easier yellow flag first; but I think this was an error in strategy, as it means that, most likely, the team member who was better at it would get the yellow flag, leaving the weaker (for this challenge) member to try to get the red flag.

Seems to me it would have been better, at the start, for both members to alternate trying to get a red flag, ignoring the yellow flags entirely. Only after the red flag had been retrieved — most likely, by the better (for this challenge) team member — should the other team member try for a yellow one.

Plus, if it turns out to be impossible for either team member to get a red flag, they realize it that much sooner and can switch detours faster.
