Last episode Lane says he'll be there for the rest of his life. Now we have Peggy's first impression of Ginsburg:
"He's certifiable!". This season is pretty heavy with the foreshadowing.

Even Ginsburg's ad that appeals to Peggy (the one with the eyes) would hint at a certain paranoia.

Mad Men's tendency for foreshadowing makes me think it should be possible to figure out how the series ends from what we've seen so far, but I still can't put my finger on it. When the finale does air, I bet there's a "A ha, it makes total sense in retrospect" moment.

I never realized that Bugles were around in the 60s.
I've said before, Betty's weight gain is her controlling the only thing in her life that she actually can control - Not Don, not Henry, not Sally, not even really the trajectory of her own life (now). Interesting the shots they used for her - the housecoat with the collar up, the bath up to her neck.

Roger, concerned with modernity. Don interrogates Hayley McFarland (who I liked in Lie to Me). And Harry - we can see him on his Hollywood/LA trajectory already. And Peggy, what's up with that Peter Pan outfit?

Mohawk Airlines comes home. In 1972, there will be a crash in Albany, killing all (but one) onboard.

It hasn't been posted yet, so I'll do the honors... Whoa Fat Betty.

Just a note. "Tea Leaves" is episode 3 of season 5, not episode 2. "A Little Kiss" was counted as episodes 1 and 2. I mention it because "Tea Leaves" was posted as ep. 2. The count will be off.

I'd bet that has more to do with the fat suit and prosthetics they used on January Jones than a character choice.

I thought the whole medical and personal reaction to the news of Betty's potential thyroid cancer, was interesting. I guess something which was much more hushed up and not talked about in that era. Having a tumour on the thyroid gland - even a benign one - can (I believe) still cause effects which need to be treated with drugs or surgery. The effects can can include appetite problems, I believe.

Also, they were shooting around January Jones's pregnancy I believe. I'm not sure she was in a fat suit (though possibly.)
