This was another of those episodes in which our two favourite FBI agents are incidental to the plot of their own show. Mulder and Scully failed to save even one life in this episode.

J.T. Walsh turned in an excellent performance as Warden Leo Brodeur in this episode. It was a very well-written character too: so intelligent and aware and insightful... but with a bloodcurdling lack of empathy or conscience.

When Danielle told Neech, "I ain't never gonna love another man," I don't think even he believed her.

God, I hate flies. Hearing them buzz and seeing them land on people's faces on screen made me twitchy enough without what followed.

Flies in/ from the wild - yeah - blech.

Maggots/ larvae - especially farmed ones? Very benign*.

I wonder if there was an animal protocol that they had to follow, afterwards, working with so many live maggots.

Or maybe they just "borrowed" them and returned as many as they could round up back to the supplier.
