Based on the Stephen King story of the same title, Richard Dees is a tabloid journalist burned out from too many grim cover stories. As a result, he finds himself competing with a young journalist to cover a new serial killer with a strange MO.

Dees and his rival work for Inside View, a publication that appears in many other of King's works including Desperation, Insomnia, The Waste Land, Bag of Bones, Needful Things, Doctor Sleep, and Elevation. Dees himself appears briefly the novel The Dead Zone. In the film, one of the murders happens in Derry, a town that King uses in many of his own works and has also appeared in the works of Joe Hill, his son.

“The fatties in the supermarket line are going to love this guy! God, I hope he kills more people!”

Subtle this movie ain’t.
