Mystery Science Theater 3000: TIME OF THE APES   Rewatch
June 28, 2020 12:37 PM - Season 3, Episode 6 - Subscribe

Rewatch! Tonight: another classic early episode, in this movie (really episodes of a Japanese show stitched together by Sandy Frank), a couple of Japanese kids visit their uncle in their high-tech monkey freezing compound. Then an earthquake hits, and the two and a lab assistant seek refuge in a freezing chamber. They're flash-frozen and wake up in a future where APES RULE THE WORRRLD. But there's also a ton of other stuff going on: human Godo the survivalist, Pepe the friendly monkeyperson, vengeful ape Gaybar(?), the stern but ultimately helpful leader ape, and the deus ex machina-ish "UECOM" ("Yukon?") that hovers in the sky. Completely bonkers. Previously

I feel this is one of the more coherent Sandy Frank ones (which isn't saying much).

A lot of the TV show was left on the cutting room floor, but I see what you mean. The least coherent of them all is, of course, Mighty Jack, which is so random that I still can't quite tell you what the movie is about.
