Why did this get so serious with such an absurd premise? Would've been more fun if it just rode the fish out of water story for 90 absurd minutes.

Yeah, there was a real tone mismatch, and the characters weren't developed with the kind of weight they would need to carry the ending of the movie. I also wanted to like it a lot more.
