At an old farmhouse, a family mysteriously dissapears at the hands of evil. Years later, hair metal band The Tritons comes to the farmhouse, whose barn now features a 24-track recording studio. Lead singer John Triton gets the band to perform their first night in the farmhouse after dinner, and weird little beasties suddenly appear, and strange things start to happen. Band members (and their tag along girlfriends) begin to act strangely and vanish one by one. Soon, only John Triton remains, and he holds a secret. Finally, the evil shows itself and a battle between heaven and hell ensues...

Um... no mention of Canadian heavy metal star and bar bending aficionado Jon Mikl Thor? He wrote the screenplay, starred in this and contributed to the soundtrack. The man is legendary (track down the doc on him I Am Thor). This film is basically a vanity project for Thor, he fancied himself to be a bit like the comic book Thor and wanted to insert himself into a horror movie. That's more or less the point of the movie. My 13 year old self enjoyed the hell out of this movie - so people older than that should use caution. There's a pseudo sequel - Intercessor: Another Rock 'N' Roll Nightmare which isn't as good as the original (I knew someone who worked on the production - it had some issues and many involving Thor's ego) but it does have Thor in it and is one of the few horror movies filmed n London, Ontario with a regional heavy metal star.

Yes, thank you Ashwagandha! I knew I couldn’t do this justice and didn’t even know where to start.

This is really the average 13 year old American male's idea of the perfect movie.

You think that the tiny dirty shower-stall sex scene is just the worst until you realise she’s not even there.

It should be mentioned that the Rifftrax guys have done this movie.

I can't speak to what an American boy would enjoy but this Canadian boy enjoyed it fine in 1988. Probably with ketchup chips and/or a Coffee Crisp. But most movies that can be confused for a heavy metal album cover usually are the perfect fodder for an adolescent mind.

This was fantastic with the Rifftrax. But even without it, I would have adored the finale and Jon Mikl Thor's passionate dedication to strangling himself with a puppet.
