I thought this was a great episode. I laughed out loud during several sketches. The first song was boring but I thought the second one had a fun 80s vibe. The Dionne Warwick show is really a gem and a great use of a bunch of people for just a minute or two - and the callback to her being scared of Machine Gun Kelly was great.

I like how they've been leaning into the weird a bit more over the last few shows.

This episode was truly delightful. The "Murder Show" bit had me howling, since I've turned to...murder shows during the pandemic. :)

Thank you thank you thank you!

Yeah, Ego has really come into her own this season, and she is great. I love the Dionne Warwick sketches. I think she's more versatile than the other women in the cast, who all fall into the same bits again and again.

I liked the Mirror Workout sketch. It's the kind of sketch that they often try but overdo, and it felt like they did just enough with Kate before it got repetitive. Murder Show and Boner Next To My Friends were nicely juxtaposed. Kenan is always funny as Levar Ball, but I didn't think Cecily did much with Marjorie Taylor Greene. The cold open was a good premise, but weakly executed and felt like an excuse to let Pete do his Andrew Cuomo again without having to carry a whole sketch.

First the Zillow sketch, now Murder Shows and I'm a little uneasy about the insight SNL has into my life.

I forgot to mention the excellent animal breaks during this show. First, the cockatoo that fled to Dismukes head during Dionne Warwick, and then the very noisy kitten at the bar.

This was another episode that feels unmemorable, but I look at the list of sketches and I liked almost all of them! Mirror Workout was good and brought back a bit of the video game thing they were doing a couple? years ago, but I think it deserves some extra credit for actually having an ending.

Something about the way MacKinnon-as-Fauci delivered the line "I don't get it. I don't mind saying it, but I don't get it." just made me feel better.

For all you Ego Nwodim fans, she makes an occasional appearance on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast (basically interview improv) as various characters.

This is good silly bullshit with a few edgy moments built in. Also I like how Che keeps setting up Jost. Everyone's getting a little airtime, and sticking the landings. I am liking the stride the show is in right now.

Nick Jonas is an able host and musical guest. Not much more to say about this except, well done! Certainly not the Bestest Episode Ever, but a good solid show nonetheless.

Who let the host dress himself?

We were a little bit curious about this. Especially the opener... like was that a jumpsuit sort of like Space 1999? And then a jacket with pockets on the outside and underneath? My best working hypothesis is that he is a sort of out-there weightlifter and he's got weightlifter thighs which means (much like hockey butt) maybe he's got fewer options? Either that or he or his wife have a fashion clothing line they're pushing.

This was a Lavar Ball bit that I liked, before that I wasn't really sure if his kids were actually good at basketball or if the schtick was that he's a promotional dad but the kids aren't all that. Now I get that the kid is actually quite good and also Lavar is funny.

I think the issue with Cecily as MTG is that MTG is abhorrent and Cecily just kinda can't be that awful I don't think and also play it as a comedy? It was kind of like the issue with Baldwin-as-Trump, when done well as an impression it wasn't funny. MTG is, to me, genuinely scary. I think Viking Voyager was the only bit I didn't like. As much as I found it relatable with all the wincy high school stuff, I am getting tired of Sad Sack Kyle (see also the cut for time v day sketch). He's got more range than that but he's playing butt-of-joke awkward nerds too often. I thought Jonas did a good job as host, wore wigs well and has decent timing. I liked his music just fine, wish his backup singers were better lit.
