Not a fan of the 'wife' character, but she works within the story.

Have zero problems with "Big Black" being a jerk, especially leavened with his dad calling him out on being a jackass.

Developing a huge crush on D'Arcy/ Alice Wetterlund. "So your type isn't the smartest and the best person in the world ... So you're not very smart."

- reaction.

Yeah, this is (should be) Astra's show first, the alien stuff is background.

Asta and her dad are gems but man, that conversation between Harry and the kids in the diner was special.

The problem, for me, with the wife-character is that she is the first person who knew the man he killed. She should react more forcefully to his vastly different personality.
No concern or querying about a medical or psychological event.
I found that weird.

It's kind of a recurring meta-joke that no-one gives his profound bizarritude much more than a second glance (barring Max, who has a plot loophole which barely makes sense in-universe). Even the wife, when shown in flashbacks dealing with a *radically* different person, gives it no more than a 'why are you being a jerk' shrug rather than 'did you have a Phineas Gage level brain injury recently'.

Isabel said something to Harry about "men came to the apartment looking for you." I wonder if we're going to learn something dark about the real Harry soon.

Harry's last name, van der Spiegel, means "from the mirror."

The whole thing with Jimmy and Astra is weird to me.

Like okay, maybe 17 years ago Astra was 16 but 17 years ago Jimmy was like 30!

Did they cast him so old just so he would look worse and therefore scummier?

Good point! I usually have an eye on weird casting ages - missed this one.

Ben Cotton (Jimmy) irl is 45, Sara Tomko (Astra) irl is 37 (!).

She certainly does not look 37 and Cotton (in my eyes) is a reasonably graceful 45.

But yeah, in-show Astra was 16 or 17 when she gave birth and so is 33 now. I'd imagine Jimmy was certainly a somewhat older loser, maybe mid-20s, dating teens - and hasn't much mentally matured since then, maybe only getting more bitter and aging poorly.

But then, when I was 30 I was dating a 32yo with a 17yo daughter.

Elvy (Isabelle) is irl 33 to Tudyk's 49.

I totally forgot that Tudyk has played a "bug eyed space monster" before in V (2009).
