Dean minds the shapeshifter driving the Impala more than he minds him having his body and mind, heh.

Some pretty convincing acting from Jensen Ackles when it came to Shapeshifter Dean treating Becky so brutally.

Is the woman who thought her husband had tied her up and tortured her ever going to know it wasn't really him? Is he going to go to prison for something he didn't do? I hope he can prove he was at the airport and the matter is resolved.

I had to wince at the shot of Sam and Dean landing on a coffee table, which collapsed underneath them. This show must have been a pretty physically demanding one for the actors. There were so many fight scenes, and even using props and some protective equipment such as mats when they could, they must have wound up with countless bruises and cuts and scrapes.

Sam: Even back at Stanford, deep down, I never fit in.

I've been thinking what a HUGE culture shock Stanford must have been to Sam. He was an 18-year-old who had never lived a normal, settled life. He and Dean had had to be exceptionally self-reliant from a very early age, so in some ways he would have been chronologically ahead of his age cohort in terms of life skills, but there must have been so many soft skills and societal norms he didn't have/know. He has the intelligence and the curiosity/drive to learn, of course, so he'd adapt, but it would have taken time.

Wow. Sam has a PalmOne (Treo 650?) in 2005. I had completely forgotten that the iPhone didn't debut until 2007.

Cool physical effects in the transformation scene. The teeth in particular.

ahhhh the details! Sam's emails include a message list for diner/roadside restaurant reviews and a supernatural lore newsletter. Also his forever-mocked email address: lawboy@.

The grossness of the shapeshifter transformation, later used with great effect in other transformation scenes.

And oh the fun of Dean's reactions around Sam's college friends, and yes, Sam as a child of a criminal drifting below-the-poverty-line family, stumbling into the upper-class security of the Stanford people and the sheer culture shock.

Also, despite all the physical work, Jared's worst on-set injury came from him fooling around off-camera. They have to write in his arm cast and sling several times.

I missed all the email stuff, dorothyisunderwood, but that really is awesome. "Lawboy@", hee! I mean, it's hilariously twee, but it's also exactly the kind of thing an ambitious but very young and naive guy who is trying to define himself by standards that are all new to him would come up with.

I'm really glad you mentioned Jared's cast, dorothyisunderwood. I'm into season two right now and I just saw an episode where Sam is suddenly sporting a cast. I had to stop and question myself as to whether I missed an episode and would have explained the injury. Then I recalled your comment, and it suddenly made sense. Especially because he looked like he was sheepishly trying to avoid drawing attention to his arm, and of course those actions had the exact opposite effect.
