Bubble Shock is a new drink that is taking the world by storm. It's strangely addictive and everyone's drinking it. Sarah Jane is so fascinated by the phenomenon that she is almost oblivious to the arrival of her new neighbour, 13-year-old Maria Jackson, a young girl starting a new life with her father.
I'm so here for an SJA rewatch!
That said, this episode kind of sucks. It's way too broad, mainly; even later episodes that trend more heavily towards "kid-friendliness" don't touch the cartoonishness in this episode. The Maria/Sarah Jane mentorship, which is one of the more compelling points of the earlier two seasons, hasn't yet been established either. So, for people new to the series: this episode really really isn't representative of how good it can be. Give it some time.
