The best new fantasy movie since The Green Knight, Vordum is the Mad Max: Fury Road of the genre and thrills viewers with excitement from start to finish.
Some people might complain about having to read subtitles, or that the translation from Russian to English is poor, or that the dudes who created the movie are also the only voice actors in the movie. These people should get over themselves. There is some initial discombobulation when you first hear the chain-mail-bikini warrior-lady being voiced by a middled-aged Russian man, but once you get used to it there is a great story here with genuinely memorable characters, some surprising humor, a great deal of horror, and many, many, many inventive, surprising, and visceral battle scenes. Despite the impressionistic nature of the visuals they manage to project a raw physicality to the combat that is lacking in most other movies. Give this one 5 minutes and see if does not delight you.
