Richard Brake is making a case for himself as the bookends of 2022 horror, starring in both the best horror film of the year so far (Barbarian) and at the low end... this thing.

Rob Zombie says he made this because he was nostalgic for The Munsters and wanted to update them, but it feels like he was nostalgic for 80's direct-to-video/cable kids schlock.

UK horror podcast personality Brad Hanson has this dead-to-rights: "109 minutes of those stilted scenes before they get to fucking in a porn parody."

Maybe its particular blend of absolutely non-updated 50s/60s silly comedy, camp, and direct-to-video schlock will charm someone else.

I'm excited for -- after two decades! -- normal people to see a Rob Zombie movie. Relatedly, I strongly suspect this may be the last Rob Zombie movie.

Ouch. That's almost as cutting as the time one of the Red Letter Media guys (probably Mike) described the 2016 Ghostbusters as seeming like it was made entirely of deleted scenes.

The latter is basically par for the course for Zombie. The man's name is Zombie. He picked it himself. Its sort of on the label there.

I tried watching this tonight, but after 15 minutes I had to bail.I got the dishes done and scrubbed the bathroom... time better spent.

I'm still sad that Bryan Fuller's Munsters reboot, Mockingbird Lane, never got a series pick up. The pilot is great.

I just watched the trailer and good Christ. I mean, if they can’t even make the trailer any better than absolute hot garbage, I feel sorry for anyone who tries to sit through the actual movie.

I look forward to half-watching this slightly drunk in a hotel room. I think that's the only scenario this will be halfway good.

I don't like Rob Zombie's music or his movies, but also, good for him for making this. I, too, would make an indulgent passion project if people said they'd give me the money to do it.

So I did watch this, half-drunk in a hotel room and it's ... nothing I would call good. It's also not ... bad? It exists outside those metrics, honestly.

Everyone, especially Jeff Daniel Phillips but also Sheri Moon Zombie, seemed like they were having fun. And sometimes the cast having fun and liking each other can carry a movie. It almost did that here. I sort of like it just seemed they all wanted to hang out on someone else's dime.

I do think most of the budget went to green gels for the lights, though, or maybe they got a bulk discount.

I admired how much this just did its thing without ever will understanding what the thing it was doing actually was. I also decided that the fact it was really not funny was what made it funny.

I didn't hate it. I wouldn't say I liked it but I came to have an odd feeling of enjoyment watching it. Good for this movie for ... being whatever it is, I guess.
