In an attempt to free himself from a state of forgotten limbo, evil dream-demon Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) devises a plan to manipulate un-dead mass murderer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger) into slicing-and-dicing his way through the teenage population of Springwood. But when the master of dreams loses control of his monster, a brutal fight to the death is the only way out.

Is this scary? Nope. It is hilarious and delightful? Yep. More of a Freddy movie than a Jason one, but I was totally cool with that.

It’s a real lop-sided conflict, given Jason’s lack of personality and Freddy’s excess of same. I recall thinking this movie was dumb as rocks, but also fun.

It was a really interesting choice to make Jason a sympathetic character and it 100% worked somehow.

I heard a rumor that one ending that was considered for this movie was Freddy and Jason killing each other and winding up in hell, at which point the Hell Priest from Hellraiser appears and says, “Now gentlemen, what appears to be the problem?” That would have had me whooping in the theater.

Pretty much the reason to watch this is to see Englund play an increasingly-annoyed Freddy trying to deal with the single-minded Jason, which he honestly should have seen coming, but undead child murderers always make that single error….
