I haven't seen this, but...are we totally sure that David Lynch didn't direct this film?

Having seen it as of ten minutes ago, this is a surprisingly boring film given all it has going for it -- mostly a ridiculously overqualified cast. My guess is it was shot just after (or concurrently with) the pilot episode of Twin Peaks; it's funny to see Leo Johnson with poodle hair, and Richard Beymer (Ben Horne) kills it as the doctor, bringing 110% to a film that deserves like 3%. How the film was related to the Twin Peaks production I don't know (a casting director in common?), but it's a damn shame that Robert Culp never found his way over to Washington. He also delivers a fine performance and brings the gravitas to a film that in no way earns it. And Laura Harring! Stunning beyond belief, showing not a trace of revulsion when nude and confronted with the bearskin rug on Leo's chest. A trooper like that deserves a better movie, even if it takes a decade plus to get it.
