Vanessa (Jillian Bell) embarks on a solo trip to clear her head after the death of her best friend Jennifer (Natalie Morales). But her self-care vacation takes a detour when she finds the recently departed Jennifer standing in her kitchen, claiming to be an extraterrestrial. Together, they spend the next 48 hours partying and reminiscing on better days.

I like the actors, but this was pretty lackluster. The comedic aspect was basically the same thing over and over, and it was funny at times. The ending showed the character development, but was just a total dud cinematically. (FaceTime with husband saying let’s have a party.) Maybe this is a case study in Covid pandemic cinema, where restrictions leave you with something close to a stage piece (limited locations, handful of actors) and the writing was just not strong enough to pull it off.

You know what would have almost redeemed this movie? A post-credits scene where "Jennifer" is filing a report saying Our procedure is unfathomably, unconscionably cruel, and it is probably most of the reason that no sentient species wants a fucking thing to do with us.
