Can I just say how disappointed I was that this wasn't a groundhog day themed episode? I got my hopes up (based on nothing but my own fevered imagination and HOW AWESOME and thematically approrpiate it would have been).

Otherwise, eh.

Everybody's a bad guy! 'Cept Ichabod and Abbey of course. Even Irving! :\ Apparently Katrina's detect-tainted-soul spell needs some work. (Course apparently it works less well than, y'know, any reflective surface, so I guess we already knew that.)

I don't understand Katrina's thought process. "The EVIL WARLOCK says I should try Dark Magic b/c it's awesome and totally my thing. I'm supposed to be stopping him but....well, you know, what if he's on to something here? I mean, he says its cool, and I mean, why would he lie or be untrustworthy in any way? I guess I'll just try out this Dark Magic stuff just real quick while he gets away... Hey! Whaddaya know, this stuff IS pretty sweet."

Anyways, they went from no bad guys around to being (unknowingly) totally surrounded by bad guys so that should at least raise the stakes from the past couples episodes. Too bad they made such short work of Solomon Kent though, TBH I think he would've made a more interesting potentially-recurring villain than that angel guy, especially if they'd explored the parallels between him and Ichabod that they briefly raised in this ep.

I have such a strong first impression of Johnathon Schaech as Jimmy from "That Thing You Do!", it kept cracking me up to see him going all buff evil warlock.

Really annoyed with the Evil Irving reveal. If the writers wanted to have him still under Henry's control, fine, but why make him so enthusiastic about it? I hate it when a plot twist doesn't work retroactively, this ruins Irving's scenes with Abbie, Jenny, & Cynthia for me.

Katrina continues to be the worst. sigh.

Um I called out Evil Irving a few weeks back but I found this ep really blah, for some reason.

The writers have done a good job getting the HURF DURF PRODUCT PLACEMENT bit over with early in each episode this season, but in their haste to give the shippers their IchabAbbie OTP, it looks like they're forcing a storyline that lets viewers watch Katrina die/kill herself in a "just" manner that won't completely force Crane to go against his innate moral character when it happens. If Katrina = Bad Guy, the Wonder Witnesses have to get rid of her.

It's possible Irving will be the witchslayer and redeem himself that way, but damn. I will be so disappointed if that happens. This show was so good at giving viewers what we didn't even know we wanted, and now that they're trying to give us what we think we want, it's starting to suck.

Please let me be wrong, because the PoC-heavy cast is easily one of my favorites on TV right now. I'd hate for this show to get canceled too quickly!
