Primo: Season One
June 6, 2023 7:08 AM - Season 1 (Full Season) - Subscribe

Shea Serrano (previously) teams up with Mike Schur (previously, esp. The Good Place) to bring us a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story of Rafa, a high-school kid with a single mom and five uncles.

"It's a testament to the show's cleverness that there's still room to be messy and all too human. ... In any case, all directions lead toward an ecstatic experience. Primo instantly feels like home." -- Will Dukes, Esquire

"The result is a show that looks pleasantly current while also feeling a bit like a throwback, and it has the added benefit of being entirely itself from the pilot’s first minutes. No waffling or training wheels; no weak spots." -- Kathryn VanArendonk, Vulture

"The result is a wonderfully fleshed-out sitcom family that is as specific, authentic, and fun to watch as Primo itself." -- Belen Edwards, Mashable

Primo streams via Amazon FreeVee in the US.

I was ready to like this show based on Serrano and Schur's involvement, and they absolutely hit it out of the park. Five our of five, ten out of ten, anything out of anything you want to rate it.

I really enjoyed this. It seemed a bit broad at first, but then I found myself laughing out loud unexpectedly and even tearing up. Not at any big telegraphed 'Moments', just at really little sweet interactions. I agree with Etrigan, X out of X.

I'm slow when it comes to television but I'm three episodes in and enjoying it so far. The characters are well sketched out from the beginning and there seems to be a lot of potential for humor in the interactions between the various uncles, each embodying an archetype of sorts.

I am not, at this point, as wild about it as the other two posters but as someone who doesn't watch a lot of television I will most likely finish this - which should be considered praise of a sort.

The actor playing the oldest uncle gives me this strong sense of deja vu - I could swear I've seen him in something before and yet I've not watched any of the other stuff credited in his IMDB page. If anyone has an inkling who it is that I might be confusing him with, I'd love to figure it out because I find it weirdly distracting.

this is my favorite new sitcom, hope they get another couple seasons... only critique is that the San Antonio references are weak, they need to do more than just have Primo with a bunch of Spurs gear in his bedroom.

I assume you mean Jay, the one with a construction business, and I have the same feeling and also have never seen anything on his IMDB page. I figure he just slots so well into that "stern demeanor" archetype so well that I'm confusing him with some other Latino Patriarch.
