Anyone up for a rewatch/discussion of the film, "My Dinner With Andre"?

I'd like to rewatch and discuss the 1981 film, My Dinner with Andre - but I don't want to do that if there are crickets. Are there crickets? This movie stars Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn, and was directed by Louis Malle.

Would like to revisit this film, interested if it holds up. Anybody up for this? Leave a comment to let me know.

I'd love to, I haven't seen it since it came out and since I was 17, I probably didn't get most of it. I think that it's on Hulu in the Criterion collection.

I've never seen it -- even though I would love to own the action figures.

Ha. Well the point is - do you *want* to see it? Would you like to discuss here?

(I've got to get the numbers up so if you say yes I've got 2... that's a start, at least...)

I've never seen it. Any interest in "My Breakfast With Blassie"?

I have never seen it. Is it Netflix-able? or Amazon Prime?

I'm not your Google!

Okay, I'll go ahead with the post. You're all responsible for getting your hands on a copy but it doesn't seem to occur to Folks Nowadays to check with their local public library - I'd start there, as Netflix may consider this movie too old to carry...

DATES: what is your preferred day of watch?

This is what I usually use to check on availability - don't know if others are aware of it, generally:

canistream.it?

I've seen canistream.it be wrong before.

Anyway - Netflix: not streaming, can get DVD by mail. (I suspect it might be the Criterion edition DVD because there's a second disc of material you can also get.)

Amazon: $3.99 for an HD streaming rental.

Hulu Plus - available. (I don't currently subscribe to Hulu but have thought of trying it out so I may do this.)

Okay those are some good options. (I did not realize that website can have errors, that's interesting.)

Why don't we do it on a Saturday, as I'm currently posting a rewatch of Spaced on Sundays.

(The biggest error I've seen on Can I Stream It is for the movie "The Last Five Years." The site says it's not available online at all, but it was released for online streaming rental or purchase on the very same day of its small cinema release a few weeks ago.)

I am so down for this. My Dinner With Andre is such a strange and interesting film, let's talk about it.

Well I'm going to a PI/Pie party on the 14th so I went ahead and watched it last night and am looking forward to discussing it.

I'm in. I have the DVD and the published book of the script, which I think might put me in one of the lower basements of geekdom.

This movie stars Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn, and was directed by Louis Malle.

How about a kickstarter for a remake with a CGI Andre the Giant, Wallace of Wallace and Gromit fame and directed by Louie CL?

Or at least serve a nice claret like these guys.

I did wave to Mr Shawn last summer in the west village, biking past him as he was flagging a taxi!

Any interest in "My Breakfast With Blassie"?

I found it on YouTube last year, it's still available. And fantastic.

Also of interest for anyone headed to the library for My Dinner With Andre, you might want to see if they also have Andre Gregory: Before and After Dinner (which is probably not going to be available here for long,) as it looks to be a delightful artist's profile.
