Here's our live show from this past weekend in beautiful Minneapolis! We discussed a lot of important topics, made a lot of really great friends and absolutely, completely fell apart there, towards the end.   Suggested talking points: Baby Pants, Two Dad Jokes, Disney Companions, Tim Curry Family Secrets, Live Show Black Hole, Ghost Puke, Beard Auction, Antiques Roadshow Hacks, Hate Pizza, Bad Texter, Food-Skin Jacket, Zayn Replacement

The sad libs are funny mostly because they are an ongoing demonstration of Travis' commitment to a bit, even well past the breaking point, when it enters the realm of anti-comedy. There is a weird groundswell of support for them too, if the faves on Justin's Tweet are any indication.

It was Justin's second gig of the evening and, based on the ad they inserted in the middle of the show, the brothers had been drinking all day. As a result, it felt like Justin was toooo drunk. And there is already something about the live shows that seems to push the brothers into overdrive, foregrounding their comic personas: Justin's tendency to just blargle out comedy until something catches and then ride it for as long as he can, Travis' spaciness, and Griffin's irritability. When it's controlled, it can be awesome, but when the brothers are too drunk it starts feeling like guys at a bar clutching at you and shouting.

This episode felt a little too much like the latter to me.

Thanks for that analysis, maxsparber - I am always on the fence about bothering with the live episodes and it sounds like this one is safe to skip.

Eh, I think it's still well worth listening to. Good intro bits, great final Yahoo, etc.

I was there in person and it was lots of fun, but I'm not surprised to hear it may not have worked quite as well as an episode. The brothers were definitely doing some stuff for the crowd that probably doesn't come across. I would suggest listening to the final Yahoo even if you don't bother with the rest of the episode.
