Sadly, they bumped this episode in my area for the Yankees game, so I have to wait until Saturday night to watch it on my TV (in theory I could watch online but I'm too lazy, my DVR is my Mommy now). I still had to post because I love reading your commentary!

Since you haven't watched it yet here is a spoiler but it's not a true spoiler, just spoiler light: HA YES THE MEAN GIRL TRIO GETS BUSTED UP HAHAHAHA so glad that's over.

Unrelated: Hadassa looks SO much like one of my Girl Scouts it's kind of crazy, and tbh seeing this lady with my little friend's face act sexy every week on tv is more than a little disturbing.

Also, does anyone else think Tyra wrote the CW script?

I remembered who Lacey reminds me of - Paulina Porizkova.

And the script for BOOM BOOM BOOM! How do they expect to get decent acting with lines like those? I also think it's crazy that they want such sexual performances out of them for the commercial, but later in the cycle, they'll tell someone (probably a woman) that she's being too sexual.

but later in the cycle, they'll tell whichever model is the curviest, usually a black woman, that she's being too sexual.

I finally caught up with this last night, and I have been dying to say this: I realized a few episodes ago that Bello strongly resembles Stacey Dash to me, and now I can't not see it.

I am also so sick of Mikey, and he is going to make it to the damn finals and it is going to piss me right off.

100%. I mean, she is a renowned author of something equally as poetic.

Every single goddamn time Mikey opens his mouth I do a double take because I think he's Riff Raff.

I've been against Team Mikey from the beginning and I don't think he'll actually make it to the finals. He'll mess it up at some point. I'm still betting Mame and Lacey for the final two.

Those Boom commercial lines were totally ridiculous. I thought it would have helped Ashley if she would have had Nyle teach her the signs for her lines and the two of them could have done a fully ASL commercial. Would have tied in with the sign & dine bit too.

Overall, not a fan of the acting episodes this show does. None of them are actors and it's just awkward and at the end there wasn't even a photo to look at. But they did mention that fake beard wearing dude from last year landing some acting gig and it was fun to think about how I forgot that dude's name and just call him beardweave.

Yeah, it's come a long way (in the wrong direction) from when the only line the models had to remember was "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful .. CoverGirl"

But I recall Whitney was atrociously bad in her commercial in one of the later episodes in her season, yet still went on to win.

The sign for boom made Nyle's commercial look filthy. Two thumbs up!

ok I have a super important question, what is up with Hadassah's lipstick during panel

am i just completely hallucinating or are other people seeing this? is she not putting the lipstick all the way to the edge of her mouth? is it a secret illuminati symbol? if it's a beauty mark or a semi-successful hsv-1 coverup, why is it only visible in panel and not during the rest of the episode?

I went back and watched to see what you're talking about and I don't see what you're talking about. She's kind of got buck teeth which make her lips sit kind of nonstandard on her face, so maybe you're reading shadows funny? Do you have a screencap of what you're talking about? I'm intrigued.

OK I am definitely being a little ridiculous and I'd had a couple of beers when I posted that, but here are her last three panels - the thing I'm talking about is the bottom-right corner (our right, her left I guess). Is it an intentional styling thing to accentuate just the middle of her bottom lip, and it's coming off weird in profile, maybe?

I don't even drink and I know this is the best way to watch ANTM.

Now that you're pointing it out in all its blown up glory, I see what you mean. I suspect she's trying to make her mouth look more petite. I'm officially calling this the People's Queen Amidala Lip; a wearable style for a more civilized age.

And yeah wow, Hadassa super really looks like my little Girl Scout.

That's pretty much the point, though, isn't it? They're given some obviously weaksauce ridiculudicrous mumbo-jumbo to recite and are being judged on how well they commit to and sell it.* I mean, Nyle had an obvious advantage in that we didn't have to hear him say it out loud (and most of the audience doesn't know enough ASL to know if what he's signing looks dopey), but Justin did well too because he didn't sound like he was reading it phonetically.

*Lest you think this is a new development, don't forget way back in the mists of time the contestants were asked to write a rap and then forced to insert "pot ledom, that's 'top model' backward" into it.

"pot ledom, that's 'top model' backward"

But this led to the wonderful lyric:
in case none of y'all ain't wizards
that's top model backwards

I don't know ASL, but I know if I saw a guy make that motion towards me in a club, I'd probably hightail it in the opposite direction while making an "eeeeeeeesh" face.

"A guy" or "that guy"? 'Cause...I am willing to admit my response would depend on this.

Yeah co-signed (also depends on whether if by "the club," you mean "fun dance party", or if you mean, like, "The Eagle")

(Like people would give him enough personal space at the Eagle to actually move his arms.)
