Fringe: The No-Brainer   Rewatch
July 29, 2014 1:07 PM - Season 1, Episode 12 - Subscribe

Three seemingly unrelated cyber crimes are traced back to the same over-cooked grilled cheese sandwich. Things get closer to home for Olivia when she discovers that they know where her cat lives. Agent Harris continues to unnecessarily clutter up the set and Rachel likes weekends off. Freak.

Weakest episode of the season. I'm not sure if anyone, including the actor, believes that guy is a super hacker/neuroscientist.
Guy turns into a super freaky monster while in an airplane bathroom? Sold. This guy with his "computah programs"? Nah.

But what about the bit where the melted cheese and green capsicum comes out of their noses? (Admittedly I hid behind the couch for these scenes owing to wanting to eat pizza again in my lifetime.)

Yay moar Fringe! I wish I had been hiding behind the couch for those scenes; I'm feeling grossed out just thinking back.

I made a post on infrasound, which was mentioned as 'subsonics' in this episode.

This had so much sloppy and boring writing. After watching The Wire, I can see how chain of command, orders, and bureaucracy could be interesting, if the writers could do anything with it at all. Which they didn't. Also, how is blindsiding Walter with what's-her-face better than hiding her from him? You can't just ask the dude if he wants to meet her or not?

what's-her-face
Jackie from The Good Wife. She knows computahs.

This episode is blah and I cannot wait until we return to the theme "bad things happen on planes" in the next episode.

It had a few nice moments. Ella going for the brain freeze in Operation. 650MB is a really huge file. I still think the hand coming out of the monitor was creepy as. Rachel and Peter flirting. Walter talking about Carla. Speaking of which, I wonder if that's why he can't remember Astrid's name. And also, Olivia listens to Midlake. Cool.

On the other hand, more relatives of dead people who have trouble looking even vaguely sad. Harris. More Harris. Harris calling Broyles "fella" and making it sound like "boy". Yeah, weak episode overall.

I kinda liked it, probably in part because Schlubby Tony Soprano Guy from The Wire/True Blood has great Greg Grunberg Everyman Charisma. His purported h4xx0r skillz, I just about accepted on trust.
