Man from Reno (2014)

A mystery outside of San Francisco brings togethera a small-town sheriff, a Japanese author, and a traveler from Reno who soon disappears, leaving behind his suitcase and a trail of questions. It is an "intricately, even densely, plotted mystery/thriller that casts an unusual spell from its opening scene."

This is an incredible story, told in a unique & compelling way, with an exceptional soundtrack.
The trailer looks like any other thriller, but the film has an element of superb atmosphere.
Pepe Serna as the detective is fantastic: I wish he'll get the accolades he deserves.
Winner of Best Narrative Feature Award at the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival.

Me before last 10 minutes of movie: "Oh wow I am LOVING this!"
Me 10 minutes later: "Fuck this movie."

Funny, a comment like this more than a bunch of raves tweaks my curiosity.

Never has a head of lettuce seemed so sinister.

Also, yeah, fuck this movie. I really liked it.

Should have known from the title though, now that I'm watching the credits and sitting here hating this movie. They didn't call it "The Author From Osaka," did they?
