Liv consumes the brains of a death-obsessed illusionist who was murdered in cold blood during a magicians’ convention in Seattle.

Blaine was on point with the snark this episode: "No one cares about the fourth person to do something."

Also with that opening with Liv and Major discussing how brains change her and how that's going to be difficult I was worried that she was going to have some terrible personality trait this episode and it turns out to be ... a magician/Criss Angel knock-off. Not what I expected, but yep, terrible.

Man, this was just full of great lines:

"So you're here to warn me to watch my back?"
"Oh, god no."

"This is the best brain ever! I'm tempted to start murdering magicians so it never has to end!"

"I was a bit of a wandophile until I realized it wasn't helping me with the ladies."
"So... you decided to get into videogames and forensic science?"

"She left me a voicemail about how drowning would be a beautiful way to die, but otherwise? Same old Liv."

(I may end up quoting this more than the bro episode.)

I also loved Clive's complete disgust with the whole thing, and watching Blaine and Liv play private investigator was priceless. I did feel awful for Steph, though - she seemed really nice, in her limited screentime.

Having sex with a zombie will turn you into a zombie. I had no idea.

I love that there was no tragic backstory to Clive having no tolerance for magicians and their bullshit, he just doesn't like them. Blaine and Liv together is always great.

We don't know the woman from the end of the episode, do we? That "occupant" envelope should be interesting.

I do wish the guilty duo hadn't been such a carbon copy of Penn & Teller. Everybody else was more of an archetype, but that was just celebrities with the serial numbers filed off.

It was a very deliberate nod to P & T, right down to the otherwise odd-seeming mention of the ampersand. I'd sort of been hoping P & T would guest star as themselves, though.

I have some major beef with the science of STZs (Sexually-Transmitted Zombieism), though. If the virus is that tiny, how do they know that it can't also be transmitted through the obvious alternate activities Liv & Major are engaging in? And where is the virus carried?

Also, how does a condition caused by chemical interactions turn into a virus?

It seems more like a prion, honestly.

I have my hangups about the STZs too, but hey, I'm not gonna treat this show as hard sci-fi.

I was cringing throughout Steph's british surprise. She's a nice girl, but geeeeeeez that was super awkward for all involved.

That would work well for zombies not being satisfied by zombie brains.

Nthing that as things have progressed, I wish they would get their story straight about zombie transmission routes. The more times the depict "getting scratched" as the common, reliable route to making a zombie, the harder it is to suspend disbelief. Fingernail-tips aren't even living cells in regular humans, how the hell is that creating a zombie, but swapping spit isn't?

Note: After various characters said "tainted Utopium" so many times within the last few episodes, I now just call it "U-taint-ium" in my head. I crack myself up.

What would Taint Utopia look like? Haha just kidding you can't SEE what taint utopia looks like because it's dark there.

Well, just a little darker than regular skin color, but you have to get into a somewhat awkward position to shine a light on it.
