  • Phillip looks kind of cute with his hair down! Who'd have thought?
  • I really, really love this crop of chefs. Their singing at the start of the episode was totes adorbs.
  • "People seem to underestimate me." I don't underestimate you, Isaac! I underestimate Carl.
  • Marjorie is such a boss, turning the tables so efficiently (and pleasantly!).
  • These poor, poor chefs are going to be so exhausted at the end of dinner service.
  • They showed way more of the logistical components to running a restaurant (beyond the food itself) than they usually do. It was interesting! Restaurant-industry mefites, how true-to-life did it feel?

WTF red team holding back customer orders in favor of the judges?? Like the judges weren't going to notice that and (eventually) smite them for it?

That steak salad Karen made looks fabulous.

Phillip with his hair down is like Clark Kent with his glasses off. WTF. We had a 30 second fight over whether it was actually Phillip. Why does he man-bun if that's the case, is it a sanitary thing for cooking? An extraordinarily poor life choice?

Picking someone so you can throw them to the wolves is not the greatest plan when the meal is a team effort.

The decision to lure aware the customers with alcohol really was inspired, I had no idea how you would do that other than politely begging them to gtfo cause you have a competition to win.

Wait--when does he have his hair down?! Did he look so different that I totally missed it?

YES.

I mean, at first I thought he was someone's hot tattooed bed-warmer, because he was half-naked, full-sleeved, and clad only in a white sheet. But it was definitely Phillip.

It's near the start when the chefs are still in their quarters getting ready.

Yes, it was Philip. I still went 'ugh' though, as I do when he has his man-bun. Not my type of attractive.

I like Isaac, but his time in the kitchen can't last much longer. As he said at the start of the episode, the judges seem to like crudos, refinement, Asian flavours, and he doesn't tweezerfy his food. But I think Marjorie is looking a strong contender for this season. She seems to be good at most things, including desserts and baking, and is fairly unflappable.

It felt more like catering an event than day-to-day restaurant ops, for me anyway. Part of the problem the orange team had was that it's four Big Fucking Egos, and nobody truly wants to go back to their line cook days. Also Jeremy might be sexy af, and he might make pretty lovely food, and he is utter pants at expediting. Holding up the whole fucking dining room for one table? Jfc no.

I used to work for this one chef who haaaaaaaaaaaaated when servers would put 'VIP' on a ticket. He'd be like, "what, do we stop serving the shitty food now?"

The way to impress the judges is to bang out every table perfectly, not to sabotage yourself in some ridiculous effort to show them how important they are. That team fucked up huge, and it'll be interesting to see whether they learn from the mistake for dinner service.

I am unapologetically and 100000000000% #teammarjorie now. I want to see her win. Not for a single moment did she lose her shit, unlike Bro Team, and her way of flipping the tables was--well I mean it's always going to be awkward when the subtext is GTFO my restaurant--very clever. I also want to eat Karen's steak in a big way.
