Project Runway All Stars: Birthday Suits
March 11, 2016 9:02 AM - Season 5, Episode 5 - Subscribe

A totally naked runway introduces the designers to naturists who need winter wear to stay warm. It's the Real Woman challenge. Now with Guys.

Ten naked people agree to be the models for the next challenge and are randomly assigned to the designers. Since half of them are men, immediately the spectre of PANTS is raised which Ken conveniently evades with his model. Despite the limited time, most designers create multiple seperates. Sam who flailed miserably this week gets flack for being the judges favorite when he wasn't voted off.

Final looks

Top 4: Emily, Mitchell, Dom, and Kini; Emily wins.
Bottom 2: Sam, Valerie; NO ONE IS OUT AGAIN

Guest judge who should've known better: Naeem Khan

Oh what bullshit the judging was this week. That was definitely a producer's save. Sam should have gone for that horrible skirt, a skirt so badly made that Sam admitted he didn't realise he should have cut it to take account of his model's bottom.

But I love-love-LOVED Emily's outfit. I would wear that. That pixellated blue check was gorgeous. I also liked Ken's outfit - odd though it was, it looked great on his model (who, himself, was a little odd). The Dubya lookalike Dom was designing for also looked great in his clothes.

I'm glad Mitchell was able to rein himself in and make something that didn't make my eyes bleed. And his model looked pleased as punch with it. Good for him.

Yeah, Sam's going to be there for a while, that's obvious. Ironic that if they had immunity in this series, his horrible outfit wouldn't have mattered. Valerie too is getting a lot of love for her very pedestrian outfits but that jacket last night made her model look like a hunchback.

I didn't get Emily's, it looked stiff to me but I appreciated that she used a color instead of black/gray. I think Dom should've been in the top over Mitchell. The other guest judge adored [sic] his "drop crotch" but I tend to think he's not capable of drafting a proper one.

(Just think of what Fade would've done with this challenge...)

Fäde's eliminated garment was easily better than Sam's. Also, I'm surprised they didn't borrow RPDR's metallic zing for that Alexander shade! Damn! I'm not heartbroken about the outcome because selfishly I rather like Valerie and Sam's pieces most of the time, but having two non-eliminations in an All Stars season is Chronicles of Ridic.

How do you not eliminate Sam, and then compound it by not eliminating anyone else, either? A dumb elimination would be better than none at all. This just means we have to sit through another episode this season.

Actually, I like having more designers sticking around longer. It means more items to look at, more creativity, and more of an opportunity for each designer to show their talent.
