First, a cha cha mini challenge featuring too little of the delicious AB Soto (previously on the Blue). Main challenge: a team lip-synch dance-off to an a cappella mashup of RuPaul's back catalogue. Then, a "red carpet looks" runway. Finally, a LSFYL to America's #1 Gay Anthem of the Past Century, and one queen fool makes the mistake of declaring "disco is not my genre." You can guess what happens.

I'll not spoil anything as this post is still new and let's face it, who actually gets Logo: I just want to say this season is two episodes in and already five times better than last season.

Kim Chi kind of broke my heart this episode.


Also, I kind of hope that Dax and Laila form some sort of superhero duo together.


And who do we think is coming back? I'm going to go out on a limb and say "Rhymes with Schmatya."

Just sucked it up and bought the season pass on Amazon. So loving it. Cynthia! Bob!! Thorgy! So many personalities that I am falling for.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

Sad about the results this week but I can't say I blame them. Definitely queens who I was really hoping would do better. Those runway looks though. Yeahhh...

I didn't watch Season 7 (heard I didn't miss much) so I don't really know who might be coming back... I'm just praying it's not Phi-Phi.

primalux, I saw that yesterday too! It kind of caught me off guard, but I think it's a whole sight better to introduce someone new at this point in the competition when everyone's still fresh, compared to bringing someone back in the middle of the season after getting a breather. (I loved Trixie, but that was some bullshit from a competitive level.)

I wanted Dax to stick around longer, but that was a total meh lip sync.

I felt like Dax was ticking off a list of things she didn't do, and for me it ended with "need to stick around."

It seems kind of unfair to the person being introduced into the competition though, they missed up on all of the pre-season hype, promo parties, runways, etc. Admittedly there's a lot of ?fame in being the one who popped out of the box or whatever.

I don't think she really does shade, so when she went under the Shade Tree and she talked about her own insecurities, my wife said "I think she just likes the two words. It's like she thought 'I like shade, and I like trees,' and went into a nice, quiet place."

Srsly, ladies - you've seen a few seasons of this show, right? "I've never sewn before today" - WRONG ANSWER. "Disco is not my genre" - You will likely sing for your life, and disco is pretty much the "traditional" genre of drag, so LEARN TO DANCE TO IT.

YESSSSS, cosigning that this fucking season is already so much better than the last one! Casual upside-down splits! Cynthia's projectile shoe!! Collegiate a cappella kitsch fakeness!!!

I also lol'd when the first use of the Shade Tree after it was introduced — in the same TV competition that gave us "Go back to Party City where you belong" and "Well guess what Mimi? We did" and freaking Tullegate! — was for Kim Chi to quietly ruminate about her self-perceived inadequacies. The first person to use that room for its intended purpose is going to look like the biggest biatch.

Chris K recap, featuring the following use of the Shade Tree: "During their 15 minutes of prep time, Betty gets shady about the fact that Thorgy’s legs are hairy, but I’ll tell you what: I’ve been to Thorgy’s shows, and she keeps all that butch business hid. Conversely, I didn’t even know Acid still did shows. So there’s that." Damn! Cue the echoing woodblock!

Hah, that reminded me, the Reddit conspiracy theory was that this was to prevent her from doing Anne Frank for the Snatch Game (apparently what she auditioned with?), or to just keep her from stealing the show that episode. But they didn't need to send her home to do that; more likely I think is her own explanation: "Sometimes you're a winner, sometimes you're a loser, and sometimes you're just there so Pearl has a storyline." Yeah, Trixie auditioned with (NSFW) Anne Frank as her Snatch Game character and was not allowed to do it or even bring the costume into the studio.
