Abigail destroys Tara's possessions, then makes up for it by shoplifting. Christian's friend shows up looking for a place to crash, and we find out how Christian got in trouble with the law.

So if the antique shop witch (note her black velvet dress and dramatically coloured cloak, in what appears to be high summer) had followed through on her threat to call the cops, both Tara and Abigail might find themselves in the same position Christian did.

Abigail doesn't want to eat her cake even though the calorie count is the least that you'd think she'd need to get through an afternoon of classes. Regardless of what Abigail says about why she shoplifted, I'm guessing it's probably a way to compensate for depriving herself of food, especially since she feels like The System is cheating her out of food as a sacrifice for being a dancer.

All the characters' motives for everything are pretty well thought out, none of it is ever superficial.
