Walking Dead season 5?

This is a little early, but season 5 of Walking Dead starts in October. Anyone interested in a first watch thread that starts with episode 1 of season 5?

Yep, I'd be all in.

We also need to do the whole comic only/show only split like for Game of Thrones.

That would be delicious, er, savory, um, filling, that is, fun. Thanks!

Yes to the discussion, and yes to the Show Only | Books Included parallel posts being necessary.

I would prefer not to have separate threads but I accept that I'm the lone voice in the wilderness. Carry on.

I haven't read the comics so if we are doing separate threads, I think it makes more sense for me to do the Show Only thread, and if someone who HAS read them wants to do a Books Included thread that would be cool. (Not sure of Fanfare etiquette here but it seems weird for someone who hasn't read the books to do a Books Included thread?)

Yeah, it's... different for Walking Dead, in re Books Included / Show Only. I'm years ahead on the books (though I'm not caught up), and I honestly consider myself spoiled on maybe one thing that might happen, which I'm gonna bet is not really a spoiler at all for anyone (but which I won't talk about). The show has, from S1E1, gone in different directions from the book, and sometimes it's come back around to meet up again, but not always.

I forget (or has it ever come up?) -- does Show Only mean you can't refer to source material at all, or that you can't refer to source material ahead of where the show is?

I think it means keep it separate. From what I remember of the GOT discussion madness, put the comics talk in the comics + show threads and the show talk in the show only threads.

I'd be in for a show only discussion. I love me some Walking Dead.

I read the books first, up until issue 70-ish, and stopped during the first season of the show. I can't recall what happened issue-by-issue five years ago and I wouldn't want to accidentally spoil something by accident, either. I vote for show only. (Also, people would have to spend a lot of money to be current on the books.)

I will definitely be watching Walking Dead new as it airs.

I haven't read the comics but I don't care if I encounter comics-based "spoilers" -- from what I've heard, they've diverged quite a bit from them anyway? Like some of the main characters in the show don't even exist in the comics?

I'm current with the comic and the show has diverged a fair bit. A lot, really.

I am here for all versions of this discussion, too.

Sunday, folks. This Sunday. I would really love a two-hour premiere or leaked episodes. Life is cruel.
