Oh man.

While the historical information was interesting, I found side B much more compelling. We know from a previous cassette that the speaker is not the listener's sister, and now we know that the speaker didn't know her sister at all. We can guess that the listener entered the Institute because of finding her sister as an adult. It's even entered my mind that the speaker put the listener on the Institute's radar due to "misplaced jealousy". And is now trying to bust her out?

I've also wondered if these specific cassettes are different from the ones that most patients get. At the end of some, the speaker will tell the listener to fill out a form with certain answers, and I am thinking that those are the answers the listener would have learned if she heard the "regular" cassettes. So the speaker taped these exercise specifically for the listener, the Institute never checked, and to keep them in the dark, the speaker has the listener complete the activities that she would have done if following instructions from the regular cassettes.

I agree - I think all patients get tapes as part of the Institute's program, and that the speaker is doctoring up a set for her crush, who's using them as a way to communicate, pass knowledge, and aid in escape. But, to what purpose?
