Is this the first episode where The Guy didn't sell someone pot?

Hrm, good question. We know Beth is his customer from S06E02 "Esme".

It was really sad when Gatsby got put in the cage, but I just got so angry when Beth (and The Guy) didn’t recognize him. I hated Beth before, and now I really hate her, and I have trouble understanding why The Guy would want to hang out with her.

Man, this episode.... My heart is aching for that dog. I mean, Chase, the owner, was kinda not being the best most attentive owner, but that scene where he's just crying for no reason is like - I've so, so been there. The crate part was awful. Who could blame the dog for running off hoping to find that happy person with the best motherfucking treats? But instead he ends up with (apparently) homeless people, which at least to me seems as sad as where he started.

Seriously amazing episode. And the dog is amazing, how they managed to get all these tiny expressions out of him.

He sold it to the VR coder guys, I believe, though the "deal" wasn't openly shown.

The first 5 minutes stressed me out way too much, had to turn it off. Oh my god. Really got to me.
