The first episode of a new Amazon show loosely based on the first women's rights class-action suit in journalism. Features both fictionalized characters and real-world figures (Nora Ephron and Eleanor Holmes-Norton).

Official description: "Jane helps Sam nail down a challenging interview, while Patti's aspirations cause a rift in her relationship with Doug. The girls attend a consciousness-raising meeting, where Cindy makes a discovery about herself."

I enjoyed this, though when the credits rolled I turned to my wife and said "well, I guess it's nice that they trusted us enough not to have Belushi turn to the camera and wink after he said Nora Ephron's full name." Come on, have a little faith in your audience.

phearlez, ha! The whole pilot was a bit on-the-nose that way, though I still enjoyed it.

I thought it was odd to keep Ephron's name, but change the name of the magazine, though I am sure there are good legal reasons to do so.

I enjoyed the pilot (and the rest of the series) -- it is didactic and heavy handed at times, but it has good characters and a lot of nuance overall.
