Arrow: So It Begins
November 10, 2016 11:13 PM - Season 5, Episode 6 - Subscribe

Felicity and Curtis learn that Prometheus' victims have a mysterious link to Oliver's past that could upend his new team.

Prometheus plays with fire.

Quinton falls off the wagon, possibly due to hypnosis, and finds himself with a throwing star injury giving the audience the impression that he may be Prometheus.

Felicity finds evidence that indicates Prometheus works for the SCPD, given that we only know two police characters the culprit seems obvious.

Poorly directed actors fire blindly into the night and cause a panic at an... outdoor mall? Are those a thing? Looked more like a farmers market.

The team discovers Oliver's serial killer past, but not all of it because there's still over half a season of flashbacks left.

Oliver considers investing in a Russian casino, expecting an explosive return on his investment.

Is anyone else not buying the implication that Lance is Prometheus? The last scene implies that Lance has a split personality that emerges when he's blackout drunk, but I don't see him having the combat skills or stamina to be a street-level vigilante. I mean, he has a heart condition!

That seemed to be an obvious misdirection. I assume his cut arm was meant to be another warning to Oliver that very conveniently happened to be coincident with Prometheus also being cut on the forearm.

Outdoor malls are a thing but, wow, that panic scene was over-the-top terrible.

Yeah, there is no way Lance of his own accord is actually Prometheus. I've been trying to figure out which GA or DC mind-control villain is going to be behind the scenes pulling the strings. So far nobody obvious is coming to mind but there are so many possibilities.

Initially I expected Prometheus was going to turn out to be Tommy back from the dead and wanting revenge, but apparently the actor who portrayed him is on another show, so that's out. Then I thought maybe they'd bring back Robert Queen in some sort of Flashpoint correction (he'd definitely know about the list in the book) but I doubt that's it either.

If the writers are playing fair with us (no guarantee) then this person should be somebody shown (or at least mentioned) in Oliver's past, but I think we've pretty much burned through the candidates, haven't we?

The Russian flashbacks are fun this season. The farmers' market scenes were objectively terrible. It was nice to see Felicity's boyfriend Malone not freak out about her unofficial job, but that's just likely a sign that's he's really not a good guy, isn't it? I really wish this show could handle subtle a bit better and not always jump right on obvious.

I do like the fact the team is ragging on Oliver about the reporter being his "girl friend." Oliver deserves whatever annoyance his teammates can deliver.

As for the new recruits, I find their shock at finding out about Oliver's past a bit hard to swallow. Really, they couldn't piece together the evolution of the Hood to the Green Arrow? They're not very bright (including Curtis).

Still, overall I'm enjoying watching this season much more than I did last season, so my whining should be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, the Arrow was presumed to have been unmasked as Roy Harper and supposedly died, so they just bought the cover story, I guess.

It's clearly felicity's boyfriend. She can't be allowed to be happy without Oliver.
I assume he's the son of the Russian fellow from the flashbacks. "Hello. My name is Vladimir Kovar. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

That's always a possibility, although I'd really hope that they could come up with another way to ruin Felicity's relationship.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about Roy taking the fall for Oliver. Somehow I never bought that plot line when they were trying to sell it in the first place.

They're doing a good job of populating the Russians with good character and B-list actors. Maybe that's part of the reason why this season's flashbacks are working better than they have in a while.
