Kristen Bell also looks amazing.

So did Michael Keaton say "Hidden Fences" as a joke? He was reading, so it seems like it would be a joke?
posted by ThePinkSuperhero at 6:10 PM on January 8, 2017

If it was a joke, no one seemed to take it that way? All v confusing

Also ahhh all the wins for La La Land are already annoying and it's bound to rack up even more.

Obviously the movie about a white guy saving jazz will win all the awards over the movie about black women.

"Is my recently acquired loathing of Jimmy Fallon souring me? or is he just kind of the pits tonight?"

Kind of the pits tonight. Although the opening number was cute and Kit Harrington is a good sport. As is Nicole Kidman.

I like the Globes because a) they announce stuff FAST and get to the speeches and let people make decent length speeches; b) people drink; c) the HFPA has much less ACTING! taste than the Academy and often pick funner things; and d) I like seeing TV and movies all mashed up.

I feel like the Globes confirm that La La Land is going to prevent Lin-Manuel from completing his McPEGOT this year ...

Strong year for animation. Not sure I agree with Zootopia as the winner but I did like it. (Sadly I think animation is the only movie category where I've seen a majority of nominees this year.)

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ANNA KENDRICK'S RIGHT BOOB INSERT THINGIE?

My husband and I watched The Night Manager shortly after our baby arrived when we were up late with night nursing and it was very pretty and the acting was fascinating and great but I have LITERALLY NO IDEA what happened, I could not follow the plot at all because I was so overtired. I think I liked it?

I got the impression watching her walk in that the whole dress was sheer, sooooo I think it was her boob? Or the boob cover she was wearing?

nope! baked chicken and popped popcorn, yumm

I literally just realized that acting Tom Hiddleston is the one who dated Taylor Swift, I am so out of it.

British actors always seem so underwhelmed by winning a Globe, maybe because they know the Hollywood Foreign Press better than American actors do ...

(Boy did Jon Hamm's bit not land there.)

I thought the Night Manager was SUPER boring, and aggressively mediocre in terms of acting and direction. What's up with all these awards?

I think they had two! Death Becomes Her is clearly the HFPA's favorite Meryl movie.

It is every right-thinking person's favorite Meryl movie

Okay, the top of Anna Kendrick's dress is so asymmetrical that it crosses over from odd to downright defiant. I'm a fan.

I like it when Brie Larsen brings it classic movie star style.

The Golden Globes are always a bit random and whack. They once awarded Pia Zadora, which is all you ever need to know about the relationship between the GG's and actual artistic quality.

As a densely becoiffed man of a certain age I never badtalk anybody's pattern baldness, but Hugh Laurie is working a Trump-level game here.

Yeah I was kinda surprised by all the The Night Manager love - I really thought it was mutton dressed up as lamb, with some lovely sets, locations and reasonably good shooting and beautiful people hiding its nonsensical plot and very silly characterisation for the most part. Le Carre has been adapted so, so much better.

Re: The Night Manager. Usually when something gets a lot of nominations/wins at one of these I add it to a mental watch list. But when I saw Winona Ryder was nominated for Stranger Things it totally threw off the calibration and now I don't know what to believe.

I thought The Night Manager was a little half-assed. I haven't read the source material, but I feel like a real Le Carre story would have had a much greater focus on Olivia Coleman's awesome character working against a cynical bureaucracy. Instead we got James Bond lite with Hiddleston looking good in a tight shiny shirt.

To achieve Washington's bold lip, makeup artist Carola Gonzalez layered Dolce & Gabbana Glam 355 lipstick with Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Deep Plum

So it's OK to just mix them up willy-nilly like that?
I'd be afraid it would cause some kind of Mr. Wizard's World-type chemical reaction and turn Kerry Washington's face into a baking soda volcano or something.

I know I'm late and I didn't see the guy who won but Mahershala Ali's not winning invalidates everything. Did any of the judges actually see Moonlight?
