Wyatt and Rufus go rogue by traveling back to the 1980s in a desperate bid to save Jessica's life. Lucy covers for them in the present as Agent Christopher discovers the ship is missing. Also: Anthony Bruhl makes a startling confession.

Well that was an episode that needed to happen. Wyatt wasn't going to be sustainable much longer as a character if he didn't attempt to do something big and dramatic to save his wife. Good on them for not dragging that part of his character arc out any longer.

Seems like Garcia Flynn would be all, Abraham Lincoln killed your wife! No, it was Bonnie and Clyde! No, it was Jesse James! And then Wyatt would doggedly take down historical figure after historical figure.

I liked how Rufus ordered a banana daiquiri, the most time consuming drink to make. I liked Jiya's silver nailpolish, because that's totally Jiya. I thought Lucy's scene where she defends Wyatt to Agent Christopher was really well done.

We all knew that Wyatt had the wrong murderer (I am SO glad Wyatt wasn't the father of his wife's murderer, which is where I thought they were headed for one terrible, terrible moment). But I didn't see Anthony going through with his plot, or trying. Although what would've happened had he succeeded?

Eventually, one of two things will probably happen:
- Wyatt has to choose between saving Jessica and saving Lucy/Rufus
- They reach a point where they can either save Jessica or reset the timeline (and restore Lucy's sister)

Ooh, I had that moment too.

I did not enjoy this episode - I mean, I think it was intentional on the writers' part that the episode be tense and end with a downer, and that as one of the recaps points out, the episode shows how important Lucy is to the 'Time Team's success. So, it's not that I think it was a bad episode, just that watching everything keep going wronger and wronger was not fun.

Did anyone else get the sense that Lucy seemed to have knowledge about the prior timeline? I don't know why but I got the impression that she seemed to understand what they'd changed which threw me a bit.

Yeah I didn't like that either, the whole group that waited for them to return seemed to know what they changed before they stepped of the ship, which is inconsistent with how they've shown what effects their recent travels had on history to the people outside the Lifeboat. Although I guess if they know why Wyatt went back in time, they could surmise that nothing changed because his wife was still dead to them. In fact, IIRC it was Rufus after they came off the ship that used Lucy's tablet to check that the other two women were saved.

In the grand scheme of all the zany time travel plot holes, it's not that big of a deal.

And really, there was no real reason for Wyatt to tell Lucy where he was going, was there?

I mean, it helps with the structure of the episode because:

1) You get to see how important Lucy and her knowledge/diplomacy are to the team's success
2) You get that nice scene where Lucy comes to Wyatt's defense to Agent Christopher
3) You get another nice scene where Jiya doubts Rufus because she was left out of the loop
4) Wyatt and Rufus don't have to explain everything when they come back and they tie up the ending

But if I were Wyatt and gonna steal a time machine, I wouldn't tell my friend about it and risk her getting in trouble.

When things kept going wrong for Wyatt/Rufus I kept thinking Time was pushing back (ala Stephen King/11/22/69).

And using that to underscore there being something between Lucy and Wyatt, at least by Jiya's estimation.
