I was almost expecting to get to the point of hate watching this show. The plot of the chess game between Axe and Chuck was getting tiresome and in the new trumpian nightmare the show seems almost quaint in scope. And the psychobabble with Wendy's character/show angle was also a bit of a nuisance for me. But this episode somehow salvaged my feelings for the show (loved the first season) and I'm back in the game between the two assholes. I could do with less fucking cheeky spontaneous pop culture references between characters, but I'll chalk that up to just this episode's writers. They kinda shot their wad with the first one using a Blade Runner line.
Also, I wish all the actors would just like, run 5 miles or something to exhaust them before shooting so they don't fucking ham it up quite so much. But that same hamming keeps me coming back. Anyway, this is now interesting to me because it will test my limits of how much conflicting shit I can put up in my consumptive art and still enjoy/appreciate its bent. I think reality just might have tainted this otherwise fun show for me, though.

It's Damien Lewis that keeps me coming back, for the most part, but the loony bin that is Axe capital has some great bit players (Wags especially). Maggie Siff isn't being given enough to do, nor is Malin Akerman, but that seems to be changing now at least in the latter case. I have always liked Giamatti but his character this season has been too hammy, I agree. That line about "throwing his seed into your bride" (paraphrasing) elicited an audible groan from me the first time, then they went and put in the previouslies for this ep! The notion that an Elon Musk stand-in would pick a woman as the astronout to go to mars was laughable too, though at least they're shitting all over the alt-Shkreli.

Pretty sure Lewis can lift 50 pound weights with his cheek muscles. I've loved watching that dude subtly chomp the scenery since Band of Brothers (and especially in Dreamcatcher).
