In this horror comedy, Adam Scott plays Gary, a new stepdad who's starting to suspect that the stepson he's having trouble connecting with might be the Antichrist.

That's way too high-concept. It's inviting disaster.

Sooo better or worse than Adam Scott's Krampus? I really liked that, although I admit it is definitely a rental/stream/torrent movie. But the tone was great. How does this compare?

I like the idea of Adam Scott carving out a small niche of family friendly horror-comedy.

Along with the niche of remaking opening credits for early 80s detective shows.

This was cute, but kind of a let-down after the director's last movie. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is great!

I did like that the director used his mother, Sally Field. I hope he continues to do so, because I'm always happy to see her.

I enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't Tucker & Dale, which is a pretty special film, but it was a lot of fun.

Fun movie! AL (Bridget Everett's part is credited that way, maybe it stands for something and I missed that?) was a great character. Could have used more Donald Faison, but then, couldn't everything. Actually, come to think of it, while I like Adam Scott ok, I'd pay to see a Bridget Everett/Donald Faison movie.

I was a little confused by a couple things. First, Gozamel - did he actually want the world to end and everything else was just a line he was feeding Gary and AL, or were he and his ancestors conned into thinking they were saving the world? In either case, why would the self flagellating priest think going to him was a good idea? Or was he also part of the con? Also, if drowning and burning were workable options, why was it so important to Reverend Gospel that he find the knife?

Having watched this I feel like it was a nice balance of horror and comedy and also a homage to a lot of tropes.

Glad I watched it and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of any of the cast, but I felt that Al was a stand out ensemble member.

It was a relief to see that Gary wasn't gaslit. Lucas really was the Antichrist and really did want to kill him.
