[TRAILER] In the center of the story is the life of the indigenous people of the village Bakhtia at the river Yenisei in the Siberian Taiga. The camera follows the protagonists in the village over a period of a year. The natives, whose daily routines have barely changed over the last centuries, keep living their lives according to their own cultural traditions. A documentary film directed by Dmitry Vasyukov, with English narration written and voiced by Werner Herzog. [more inside]

Movie: Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner

[TRAILER] Based on a local legend and set in an unknown era, it deals with universal themes of love, possessiveness, family, jealousy and power. Beautifully shot, and acted by Inuit people, it portrays a time when people fought duels by taking turns to punch each other until one was unconscious, made love on the way to the caribou hunt, ate walrus meat and lit their igloos with seal-oil lamps. Movie: The White Dawn

n 1896, three American whalers are taken in by an Inuit village in the Arctic after getting stranded in the ice during a hunt. While condescending officer Billy (Warren Oates) introduces the locals to gambling, Black harpooner Portagee (Louis Gossett Jr.) grows closer to the villagers as he gets used to a life without racism. Cabin boy Daggett (Timothy Bottoms) becomes the most integrated in the community, falling in love with the clan leader's youngest wife. [more inside]
