Movie: Little Richard: I Am Everything

[TRAILER] The story of the Black queer origins of rock n' roll. It explodes the whitewashed canon of American pop music to reveal the innovator - the originator - Richard Penniman. Through a wealth of archive and performance that brings us into Richard's complicated inner world, the film unspools the icon's life story with all its switchbacks and contradictions. [more inside]

Mystery Science Theater 3000: CATALINA CAPER  Rewatch   Season 2, Ep 4

Rewatch! What do you get when you cross a beach movie with a heist movie? Nothing good! It does contain a musical number by Little Richard. This movie marks the establishment of the rule that MST3K would avoid comedies, but it's still a fairly well-remembered episode from the show's classic era. RuPaul's Drag Race: Snatch Game  Season 7, Ep 7

No mini-challenge this week, just the much-anticipated maxi-challenge: Snatch Game! Max finally donned a colored wig as a "Disney" Sharon Needles, Pearl went really big as Mob Wives' Big Ang, Violet and Miss Fame fought over Donatella Versace, with Fame claiming the character while Violet went with Alyssa Edwards. Katya channeled a shady Suze Orman, while Jaidynn had visions as Raven Symone. Ginger Minj was Adele, and Kennedy took a real risk in playing Little Richard, the first male impersonation in the six seasons of Snatch Game.

Mystery Science Theater 3000: CATALINA CAPER  Season 2, Ep 4

(1967, Color, Beach, Romance, Heist, Comedy) Tommy Kirk and a gang of teens party and woo on Catalina Island, and also thwart art thieves. One of the few overt comedies the Mystery Science Theater guys covered. There's a lot of surprises in this one: a song by Little Richard, the guy who played Exedor on Mork & Mindy, goofy millionaire shenanigans and the enigmatic "Creepy Girl," upon whom a young robot develops an unhealty fixation. YouTube (1h37m). First aired October 13, 1990. [more inside]
