Laszlo's insistence on trying to understand the killer by mucking about in his team's and other people's psychological issues is really not very productive, and it's pissing everyone off. He accomplishes much more when he applies his considerable deductive powers and insight to the concrete clues that they have -- it's his idea that John should consult a dentist to find out what could give a man a silver smile, for instance.

John's taking Mary out on a movie date because Laszlo was out with Sara was little too junior high, if effective. Meanwhile Laszlo's at home in Mary's room sniffing her chemise. Good grief.

I liked the date. It struck me more as two mutual friends of some jerkface just hanging out to show him they aren't constrained by his jerkery. It also reminded us that Mary is a ward, not a servant. She's allowed to do as she pleases.
