Saturday May 11, 2100 CEST! Viewers outside the US can watch via the main Eurovision YouTube channel. Eurovision.tv also lists a series of live stream links, some of which are geoblocked but many of which look to be open to the general viewing public.

Unfortunately my child has an important baseball game when ESC starts. He has asked me to watch/listen on my phone and keep him updated on how the first few acts go. :)

My picks: Cyprus, Czech Republic, Israel
My kid's picks: Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Sweden

And I'm going to be at a family member's church's barbecue, sneezing my everliving daylights out in a horrific smorgasbord of spring pollen and summer heat. Dag nab it.

Israel's has been really very memorable -- literally, it was one of a very few that actually stood out in my memory after my first watchthrough of the official music videos. After having actually read a bit about it etc. I'm a bit ambivalent, but it's certainly a catchy song.

May all the performances go off with lots of glitter and not a hitch in sight, I guess? :P

Yay! Missed it last year because a family member had the audacity to turn 21 and had a party the same night, so I'm v. excited. I'm also completely unspoiled- I don't even know who the UK entry is.

As always, this always overlaps with the local Shakespeare in the park festival -- silly Americans who don't realize How Important Eurovision Is. I caught the semi-finals, and will probably do as I did last year, which is watch the first hour or so on TV here, then race over to the park and take advantage of public wifi to get updates on the rest (then watch it all tomorrow on YouTube).

That said, after having watched the qualifications, Israel's entry is the one that successfully earwormed itself into my head this morning, so it has that going for it.

I am 10000000% stanning for Netta from Israel, especially after I saw how much of a Lemonade ripoff Cyprus' video was (though let's be real, I'd be happy to fly to Tel Aviv or Larnaca for next year's competition).

Here is one of Netta's insanely good performances on HaKokhav HaBa, Israel's reality TV contest to choose its Eurovision contestant. She mashes up/mixes/raps/loops four very different songs into an incredible 2:45 that makes one judge literally scream with joy.

Someone asked me earlier who was going to win it, and I honestly don't know. Therefore: I'm voting Moldova. But UK was doing so well before the stagecrash and after, even while visibly upset. And I kind of liked the defiance (if jinxing themselves) of Italy. So. I'm certainly wrong, but I wouldn't mind any of them winning.
