Juice is on vacation this week! We've got a live show for you in his absence -- it's from this past April, when the lovely denizens of Houston, TX came down to Jones Hall for an evening of friendship, fellowship, and an extremely buckwild installment of the Haunted Doll Watch. Enjoy!

I was excited for another live show with the new format of questions and was very sad it was an older show because wowee that second question was a doozer.

Uh-oh. Should I skip listening to this one?

The episode on balance is good but the audience questions are all pretty lame or awkward, I think. The rest of it is really good tho.

Weird, I thought the audience questions were really good, despite using the old format.

I feel like the sound quality was really nice on this one, they were just speaking normally and the crowd noises were just like, perfect.
The audience questions I think had some ok stuff, I just hit the skip forward button a lot.

The question in question (Which was a woman asking for advice on how to explain her polyamorous relationship to strangers) was awkward, since the brothers both have no experience with such things and aren't comfortable using such a thing as comedy fodder. Despite that I think they handled it well and carried on anyway, though I suspect it took some wind out of their sails.

I gotta be honest, audience questions on any podcast ever give me the opposite of schadenfreude (fremdscham?) so hard that I never ever listen to them.

Some other podcast snapped up buygriffinshat.biz. You know if Justin was there he would have had that on lock.

The old awkward format questions were completely worth it to hear Griffin's breaking news update in the beginning. That entire story had somehow completely missed me, so by the time Griffin ended with, "Oh, yeah, and also, the monkey's name is Naruto," I was laughing so hard I had to put the knife I was cutting melon down because I wasn't fit to be holding it.

Ok, I'm really glad that I listened to the whole show -- I didn't think any of the audience questions were that bad (they really did handle the polyamory question appropriately and with great respect) and the last question about the guy named Joe was hilarious!

I kind of wonder whether the polyamory question was what prompted them to change the audience questions process into its present form.

My impression from listening to this episode was that the question in Houston was asked in good faith (and honestly got an ok answer) but I was at a live show a few years ago where someone "asked a question" that wasn't a question but just an excuse to share graphic details about their sex life -- it was uncomfortable for everyone (including the brothers) and I left feeling angry that the person had co-opted the show for their own purposes.

ardgedee, I too am curious about what specifically prompted the change, especially since that show I mentioned was years ago.

Love the new format!

Were you at the show in the Bay Area where a woman told a long, winding story about her experience at a BDSM party? That was on one of their donor-only bonus episodes.

There was also the Boston show last year where some idiot came up and used the Q&A to advertise his podcast.
