Everyone in Riverdale is just trying their best, as troubling as that is (LaToya Ferguson for TV/AV Club, A-)
Because of Riverdale’s second season, it’s hard to watch these early season three episodes without waiting for the other shoe to drop. As promising as these stories are right now, there’s still the sense that whatever the answers behind mysteries like the Gargoyle King and the seizures and The Farm are, they won’t live up to the expectations set here. These first three episodes have been all rise, but the fall has to come eventually, just like a roller coaster… or like a show that’s doing way too much.
Riverdale Season 3 Episode 3 Review: Chapter Thirty-Eight: As Above, So Below (Justin Carreiro for TV Fanatic)
Word to the wise: speak no evil about the speakeasy in front of Veronica. The aspiring businesswoman has no time for your negativity in her life.

On Riverdale Season 3 Episode 3, Veronica opened the doors to her secret underground bar beneath Pop Tate's Chock'lit Shoppe. The debts are piling up, and with help from her friends, she's going to make some extra money to keep the business afloat.

The problem, however, was that her enemies came out of the woodwork to make her life a living hell. Let alone the fact how ridiculous it was that a 16-year-old opened a bar without anyone even batting an eyelash.

That speakeasy serves mocktails, at least. But seriously, why is a teenager opening a speakeasy? Or knows what one is? Veronica is 16 going on 35.

I hate this Gargoyle King plot for being even more ridiculous than ever.

I also glaze over at anything involving the words "Fight Club."

Though in other news, I saw Cheryl and Veronica wigs and cheerleader costumes at Spirit Halloween, so that's a life option now.

"Password."

"For a supposedly secret speakeasy, this place sure has a suspicious number of well-dressed people lined up outside a phone booth for no reason."

"...lucky guess."

I think they are going full mystic, the farm girl seemed to get super excited that Betty was supposedly having daily convulsions, which means it Means Something. I share the worry they won’t go hard on it, though. If this becomes a boring answer, it will be irritating as hell.
