World Chess Championship

The World Chess Championship 2018 is an chess match between the reigning world champion since 2013, Magnus Carlsen, and challenger Fabiano Caruana to determine the World Chess Champion.

It starts friday Nov 9th and possibly goes until the 28th

The last one was 2 years ago and I posted about it on the Blue.

I think fanfare might be the better place for an ongoing discussion, but maybe not.

Thoughts?

I was just thinking about it myself. I think a thread on the Blue is fine - the 2016 thread got livebloggy towards the end (admittedly, I was part of that), but even so, the thread had fewer than 100 comments. I think there's enough interesting pre-match links (e.g., 1, 2) and things about the championship to discuss aside from the games themselves to warrant a post on the Blue, and it would draw more attention than a FanFare post. At the same time, I did enjoy the ongoing discussion, and if the consensus is that the Blue isn't the place for that, then a FanFare thread would be good.
