I was dreading this episode about a fifth of the way in, because it seemed like it would just be more handwringing about the Children of Liberty without much action. But it did pick up halfway through with Manchester Black really upping his actions, and watching Brainy fight was great!

The high point for me was Lena arguing that humans also need powers, and the others replying that whoever handed out those powers would be playing god. It's an interesting debate, and one that I think the show should focus on. It's a more intelligent debate than trumpeting the xenophobic message that Lockwood and Children of Liberty have been preaching, and then having Kara failing to counter them because she really can't as a reporter, and of course the show isn't going to have her come out as Supergirl for that debate. Although I feel like you can counter Lockwood's last point by basically broadly gesturing at everything that Supergirl has been doing to protect Earth. I dunno why no one has come on TV to say that. We already have enough of that bs in real life with a not-insignificant percentage of the population buying into the real-world version of Lockwood spouting hatred. And having Lockwood getting his own show even further drives this plot into the hole and I'm getting a neckache bending down to watch it.

I hope we move past all this soon... The show is pivoting to Lena doing something evil, and I'd rather watch that, even though I always hope she would stay good. But that's certainly a better drama.
